3rd floor cabinets and railings
I'm really getting into building these cabinets
I don't know if I've gone overboard and it would
have been cheaper to hire someone or not.
Of course the wood costs money either way, but
I've bought jigs and tools to make things easier.
Still, it might be worth it in the end for all the book space.

The wall is 10' wide by 10' tall (actually add an inch and take one away, but really close).

I enjoy just sitting on the floor and thinking about how to finish it out.
I used a different wood for the lower cabinets. Cheaper and it'll be hidden behind doors.

All of the upper part is oak plywood. I figured out all the cuts I would need for the cabinets and went to HD and they spent a lot of time matching all my measurements using the big saw they've got. One or two mismeasurements and not everything that's 10" is the exact same 10", but then again the space is wider at the top than the bottom. Nothing is perfect anyway.
One of my big questions is how to put a nosing on the front of the counter. I want it to be further out than the top of the doors and drawer fronts.
I was thinking of a 1/4 round (because it seemed easy), but a decorative piece would really be nice. Of course I haven't figured out how to attach it. I looked at getting a biscuit joiner, but $100 for a nosing is a bit much.
The left and right hand sides will be all drawers. At least I found the gliders on sale. I could have possibly just done cubbies, but now I know how sliders work (well, I will, once I build the drawers).
Difficult to see, but I got a neat jig that let me drill evenly spaced holes for the shelf holders..
It is attached to the wall at the top. I still need to attach the uprights to the counter top. I'm holding off, because I want to be absolutely sure.
Oh, and quite nice to have a railing in my room. We found a good place to get the balusters, but I can't decide if I want the kind that bubble out like on a balcony, or just wavy ones, or something else. I'm starting to have trouble making decisions. I look at everything we've done and get a bit overwhelmed.
