More cabinet work and some water problems
I had been a little disappointed that the stain
we chose didn't match the doors as well as I'd hoped.
So, this weekend I bought a glaze and tested it out.
I'm very happy with the results.

The back is darker than the doors, but the color is now a much closer match. I used a sienna glaze. I prefer the closer look and the less green back.
Oh, and notice the tapestries on the columns. Bart was nice enough to buy me a set with a horse motif.

Here's a before shot of the stain without the glaze. It had a green cast that I didn't like, that didn't really match the doors.
All the cabinet fronts are on with knobs. Drawer fronts are a pain, but the knobs weren't so bad using a jig.

I'm glad I bought the glaze and tested it out. The wood types are still different, but the colors are much closer.
What I like about the tower in the morning. I can look out and see the horses waiting for breakfast.
I think Kanuk can see me when I look out the bottom floor window.
Still not done with landscaping. Unfortunately we need to start looking into it with the rainy season starting. Basically we need to get someone to dig a moat.
It's a bad thing when the water can get higher than the foundation
(tiles are above the foundation). Last weekend the water came in from around the front of the tower between the foundation and the wall.
Originally the front of the house had a french drain. Not so effective where the tower meets the house. We also had leaks from the roof, which means we need to start thinking of how to fix the flashing or continue with the remodel over the rest of the house. It's always something.
