Nero at the kennels

Poor Nero is starting to get a little work now.
He's very willing, but a bit lazy. Not a bad thing
for my comfort level on horses who are excitable and forward.

He got warmed up on the lunge, but I forgot to take pictures.

No spooking, but he would try to ignore the leg and give very little forward.
He holds the bit well, and occasionally softened when asked.

Walking by the kennels and kennel building didn't matter at all. He met the hounds last weekend and liked it when they licked his nose.
He was more forward out in the pasture further away from his horsy friends.

Quite a standout with that color.
Over the pole.

At the first request it took a little to get the trot and he was a bit hollow.
He has a very steady, relaxed trot.

Chrissie said it was very smooth to ride.
A little 4 yr old moment. After coming back to the walk, he said he didn't need to trot again. I handed Chrissie the whip to have something to tap him with. He made it plain that he didn't want to trot, but....

When he picked it up again, no sour looks and he had more respect for her ability to have him go.
She said he was very responsive to the bridle and never got strong with her.

Thinking about going to the gate, but listening and giving the bend.
Getting some nice work before giving him a rest.
Walking over the log on the ground. No pictures going through the water, because he just sloshed right through without looking.
Standing and getting pats he likes. He's quite friendly.
He was a little herd bound, but no bouncing or threatening. He would pop his shoulder and try to turn back as they headed past the other horses.
