ALFRED "The Great"37 (ETHELWULF ("Noble Wolf")38, EGBERT39, EAHLMUND40, EAFA41, EOPPA42, INGILD43, CENRED44, CEOWALD45, CUTHA46, CUTHWINE47, (Ceolin)48 CAEELIN, CYNRIC49 , CERDIC50)(956) was born in Wantage, Oxfordshire (previously Berkshire) 847. His occupation of London in 886 established the first true political union of England, whose existance owed a perverse debt to the pressure of standing against the Danelaw constructed from the remains of eastern Mercia and East Anglia. ALFRED died 26 OCT 899. (957) RESEARCH NOTES: poss. suffered from porphyria. His body was interred in Winchester.
He married Ealhswith 868. Ealhswith(958) was the daughter of Aethelred MUCIL of the Gaini and Eadburgh. Ealhswith died ABT 915(04). King of England 871-899.
