He married ANGHARAD of South WALES. ANGHARAD⁽⁸⁶⁹⁾ was the daughter of GWGON apMEURIG. As King of Gwynedd (through his father), King of Powys (through his uncle, Cyngen ap Cadell) and King of Seisyllwg (through his brother-in-law, Gwgon ap Gwgon), Rhodri inherited most of the land of Wales. Rhodri's line goes back even further, however, to Coel Hen, the founder of several dynasties in the Old North. Such was the fame of Coel Hen that he is remembered today as "Old King Cole."

RHODRI MAWR "The Great" of WALES and ANGHARAD of South WALES had the following children:

+ 1054 ii. Cadell apRHODRI.

1145 iii. Nest. She married Owain apHYWEL. Owain was the son of Hywel, of the line of Kings of Gwent and Glamorgan.

1146 iv. Gwriad apRHODRI. Gwriad died 877.⁽⁸⁷⁰⁾ RESEARCH NOTES: Killed with his father, Rhodri Mawr, in battle against the English (Wessex).
