41. Ludwig IV⁶ Grand Duke of HESSE and RHINE (Charles⁷ )⁽²³⁾ was born 1837. Ludwig died 1892 at 55 years of age.

He married Alice Maud Mary SAXE-COBURG in Osborne House, Isle of Wight, 1 JUL 1862. Alice was born in Buckingham Palace 25 APR 1843. Alice was the daughter of Albert Augustus of SAXE-COBURG-GOTHA and Alexandrina VICTORIA of SAXE-COBURG-SAALFELD. Alice died 15 DEC 1878 in Darmstadt, at 35 years of age. AKA "Louis of Hesse-Darmstadt"

Ludwig IV Grand Duke of HESSE and RHINE and Alice Maud Mary SAXE-COBURG had the following children:

+ 25 i. Victoria⁵ of HESSE was born 1863.

42 ii. Alix of HESSE was born 1872. Alix died 1918 at 46 years of age. She married NICHOLAS II Tsar of All the Russias. NICHOLAS was born 1868. NICHOLAS was the son of ALEXANDER III Tsar of All the Russias and Dagmar (Marie) of Denmark. NICHOLAS died 1918 at 50 years of age.⁽²⁴⁾
