Wiley on the Trail
We had a trail clearing day last weekend,
so Chrissie took Wiley out. My husband came
along on foot, so he got a few pictures.

Wiley and Thuy waiting to head out.

I took Thuy away to see how Wiley would be. A little fidgity, but fine once we started off.

We had a nice sized group. That's Wiley on the far left.

Practicing waiting.

We both had saddle packs to carry tape and tools.

Wiley led and followed this time. A few times we stopped and Chrissie would dismount to cut down branches in the way. Wiley would just stand and wait for her to mount up again.

Sometimes, instead of getting off, Chrissie would grab a dead tree branch from Wiley's back and break it off. Then they'd drag it along until there was a clearing to thow it in. Some of those breaking branches sounded like gunshots. He wasn't even flicking an ear.

There were some tough trail areas. We had one horse decide not to cross a creek, so Chrissie had to get off and help. Wiley stood calmly for probably 15 minutes or so  while I held him. I think he feels he has this trail thing down....

Grinning at the cameraman.
