119. Sophia Dorothea11 of CELLE (ZELL) (George William12 Duke of BRUNSWICK-LUNEBURG-CELLE) was born in Zell, Germany 3 FEB 1666. Sophia died 3 NOV 1726 in Ahlden, Germany, at 60 years of age.(51) RESEARCH NOTES: Imprisoned in the Castle of Ahlden at age twenty-eight after her affair with a Swedish Colonel of Dragoons, Philip von Konigsmark. (It was rumored throughout Europe that Sophia's husband, George I, had ordered von Konigsmark to be hacked to pieces and the mutilated body to be buried under the floorboards at the family's country house of Herrenhausen.) Her body was interred in Zell, Germany.

She married GEORGE I Louis Guelph HANOVER in Zell, Germany, 21 NOV 1682. GEORGE was born in Osnabruck, Brunswick, Germany 28 MAY 1660.(52) GEORGE was the son of Ernest Augustus Duke of BRUNSWICK-LUNEBURG and Sophia of HANOVER. GEORGE died 11 JUN 1727 in Osnabruck, Brunswick, Germany, at 67 years of age.(53) His body was interred in Leineschloss Church, Hanover.(54) (See GEORGE I Louis Guelph HANOVER for the children resulting from this marriage.)
